In regards to the US Postal Service, have you ever…
…forgotten to put a stamp on an envelope you were mailing out?
What happens? The trustie return address in the upper, lefthand corner of the envelope ensures that your letter returns safely into your hands because you were too cheap to spend the 39 cents. Wait no, 41.. urr 42 cents.
However, I wonder if this rule of the USPS can be used against them?
In this social experiment, I have addressed an envelope to myself. (I own a home in Raleigh, North Carolina) As a return address, I have written my sister’s address in New York. (Specific location undisclosed for her protection). Tomorrow morning on my daily trip to my company’s PO Box, I am going to drop off the envelope in Raleigh and see what happens.
POSSIBLE OUT COMES:
a.) The USPS sends the evelope to the return address due to lack of postage. Thus my letter gets a free ride to NY.
b.) USPS delivers the envelope to the adressee (me in this case), because my address was the closer of the two. If this happens, will they deliver it for free or will I have to pay the postage inorder to receive it.
c.) Its never heard from again.
